Observation Hours Required for Texas Teacher Certification

You must complete 50 state mandated observation hours while enrolled in the program to obtain your Texas teacher certification. You will be able to complete 25 hours of observations via several methods. This includes service as an educational aide, substitute, a teacher of record or by utilizing WCACP’s virtual library collection. Your remaining 25 hours must be completed via in-class observation hours (with active participation in the classroom) at a K-12 school.

An observation letter will be provided in the online curriculum that will allow you to schedule your in-class observations. You will need to contact an Independent School District, TEA recognized private school, or charter school directly to inquire about observation policies and procedures. It is your responsibility to set-up the observation assignments.
