The community of Marble Falls, Texas is located along U.S. Hwy 281, north and west of the capital city of Austin. Marble Falls Independent School District (ISD) serves this community and several other areas across a 268 square mile region of Texas Hill Country, including Spicewood, Meadowlakes, Fairland, and Smithwick.
This growing 4-A school district currently has four elementary schools, one middle school, one traditional high school, and one alternative high school campus. Total enrollment in Marble Falls ISD is currently more than 4,000, but as the district continues to grow, plans for building improvements and expansions are already being carried out. The school district’s website contains links to detailed monthly progress reports on this construction work, illustrating how administrators are interested in accountability and keeping the community informed about what takes place in Marble Falls ISD.
Overall, Marble Falls ISD has been rated as “academically acceptable” by the Texas Education Agency’s Academic Excellence Indicator System. In keeping with the pattern of being open and accessible, the district website also has posted a detailed District Improvement Plan that outlines steps that administrators hope to take to promote continued academic achievement. These efforts are all part of the “pursuit of excellence” that characterizes the district’s approach to education.
In addition to providing excellence in academic education, Marble Falls ISD schools also provide opportunities for students in a variety of other fields, including band, choir, FFA, art, and athletics. The University Interscholastic League is an academic competition in which Marble Falls ISD students have been recognized on the state and local levels many times. All of these extra-curricular activities serve to broaden the students’ education and to provide students with as many opportunities as possible for success.
