The math classes are taught in English, science and social studies are taught in Spanish, and English language arts is separated and is taught in the student’s respected native tongue. In the end, students are exposed to one another's languages and are on their way to being bilingual Spanish and English speakers.

The district recognizes academic excellence as their “cornerstone.” Kilgore ISD has made accomplishments in preparing their students for college and post secondary life. Students have been accepted to schools and military organizations such as UT Austin, University of Houston, Texas Tech, Louisiana Tech, Texas A&M, the Army, Marines, Navy, and Air Force.

Kilgore ISD makes it an initiative to educate their students outside of the realm of classrooms and test scores. Through extracurricular actives, events to show off the students’ talents, and cultural festivities, Kilgore ISD ensures that the students are aware of the world around them and their own individual talents. Many of the athletic organizations at Kilgore ISD have made it into the playoffs. They have held mini film festivals and plays for kids to show off their artistic side.
